KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-P (MQM-P) has started mulling over parting ways with the federal government of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), Bol News reported quoting sources as saying.
MQM-P convened an important meeting in Bahadurabad, where they sought feedbacks from the coordination committee, the sources said. Several members of the committee expressed their opinion to separate from the federal government.
In the meeting, the MQM Pakistan Coordination Committee also asked for resignation of its members from the National Assembly. MQM-Pakistan is considering the options of separation from the federal cabinet and government.
They are also expected to make an important announcement in the next 24 hours, the sources said. Many other options, including leaving the government, were discussed in the Coordination Committee meeting.
Moreover, MQM Pakistan has also called a general workers meeting at KMC ground, PIB, on January 14. The final decision will however be made by Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.
Earlier, MQM-P pled to withhold the local government elections in Karachi and Hyderabad. Which was rejected by the Sindh High Court (SHC).
On MQM Pakistan’s request to stop the local government elections, Advocate General Hasan Akbar argued that the decision should be taken in the light of the decision of the Sindh High Court on November 14. MQM Pakistan has already told the court his position. MQM did not challenge this decision even in the Supreme Court.
