PAK vs NZ: Pakistan set target of 281 runs in third ODI

  • Pakistan reach 280-9 after batting first against New Zealand in Karachi.
  • Zaman scores 122 runs off 122 balls, including 10 boundaries and a six.
  • Agha Salman scored a 43-ball 45 with a six and four boundaries.

In Friday’s third and decisive ODI international match against New Zealand in Karachi, Pakistan’s opener Fakhar Zaman scored a stunning century to help Pakistan reach 280-9.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat at the National Stadium, and the left-hander scored 122 runs off 122 balls, including 10 boundaries and a six.

With Mohammad Rizwan, who scored a superb 74-ball 77 with six boundaries, Zaman helped Pakistan recover from 21-2 thanks to a third-wicket stand of 154 runs off 161 balls.

The loss of Shan Masood without a score and captain Babar Azam for a rare failure on four severely hurt Pakistan, who were looking to win the series after the teams split the first two games.

Azam was stumped by Tom Latham off-spinner Michael Bracewell in the seventh over after scoring two half-centuries in the first two games.

The task of constructing the innings was left to Zaman, who took a crisp single to reach his eighth hundred, the first three-figure ODI total in Pakistan.

Ish Sodhi, a leg-spinner, broke the stand by dismissing Rizwan, and Zaman was run out while attempting to steal a quick single.

Agha Salman scored a 43-ball 45 with a six and four boundaries in the last overs of the game. Pakistan scored 49 runs in the final five overs while taking four wickets, with Haris Sohail scoring 22. Tim Southee, a New Zealand pacer, finished with a 3-56.
