  • Russian claim that it killed hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers
  • Moscow claimed that a “mass missile strike
  • It claimed it was in reprisal for a New Year’s Day Ukrainian strike on a Russian base

Ukraine soldiers in an offensive has been labelled “propaganda” by Ukraine.

Without offering any evidence, Moscow claimed that a “mass missile strike” in the eastern city of Kramatorsk killed more than 600 Ukrainian servicemen.

It claimed it was in reprisal for a New Year’s Day Ukrainian strike on a Russian base that killed scores of Russian servicemen.

However, the Ukrainian military denies this.

“This is again another piece of Russian misinformation,” Ukrainian army spokesman Serhiy Cherevaty.

According to Russia’s defense ministry, more than 600 Ukrainian personnel were killed in a hit on structures temporarily housing Ukrainian forces. According to Moscow, about 1,300 Ukrainian troops were sheltered in two buildings.

The attacks were described as a “retaliatory action” to avenge the deaths of 89 Russian troops in Makiivka. According to Ukraine, up to 400 people were killed or injured in the incident, but Russian nationalists on social media have cited numbers in the hundreds.

Moscow has yet to provide any evidence to back up its allegation regarding the Kramatorsk deaths.

By comparing images of the incident released by local officials to Google satellite imagery and other images available online.

The strikes took place near two school buildings, vocational schools 28 and 47, which correspond to the dormitory numbers issued by Russia. According to Moscow, the structures housed Ukrainian military personnel.

However, there is no visual proof that these two buildings were severely damaged or that mass casualties occurred on the magnitude alleged by Russia.
