- LHC ordered police to recover Ahmad Farhan Khan
- He is a friend of PML-Q leader Moonis Elahi
- FIA denied Ahmad Farhan was under custody
The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday gave one more day to the city police chief to recover and produce Ahmad Farhan Khan, a friend of former federal minister Moonis Elahi.
Capital City Police Officer Ghulam Mahmood Dogar appeared before the court and sought more time for the recovery of the alleged missing brother of the petitioner. Justice Aalia Neelum allowed the CPPO’s request and adjourned the hearing till Wednesday.
Salman Zaheer Khan, the brother of Ahmad Farhan, filed a habeas corpus petition, alleging that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) picked up his brother and kept him in illegal custody.
However, the FIA, in its report, denied the allegation. It said there was no FIR registered against Farhan nor was he in its custody.
Therefore, the judge directed the police to trace the whereabouts of the petitioner’s brother and produce him before the court.
The FIA launched an inquiry against the family of Chief Minister Parvez Elahi on charges of corporate crime. The agency also issued a call-up notice to the friend of Moonis but he did not appear before it.
