Imran tells UK HC illegal transfer of capital to developed countries must be stopped

British High Commissioner to Pakistan Christian Turner called on Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan at his Zaman Park’s residence in Lahore on Monday.

PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Central Senior Vice Chairman Fawad Hussain, Central Information Secretary Farrukh Habib and others were also present on the occasion.

The prevention of illegal transfer of capital from developing countries to developed countries is very important, Imran added.

Imran further said that the developed countries should play their due role in relieving the developing countries from challenges like poverty and deprivation and stopping the illegal transfer of capital from these countries.

According to the report of the United Nations Secretary General’s Factual Panel, seven trillion dollars are transferred annually from developing countries to developed countries, he added.

The both leaders discussed in detail the issues of mutual interests, human rights, corruption, and money laundering.

They also talked about importance of elimination of money transfer through money laundering from underdeveloped to developed countries.

The issue of climate change and its severe effects also came under discussion during the meeting.

Imran on the occasion observed that protecting the environment and developing countries from its destructive effects of climate change is a major challenge for the developed world.

He told the British HC when the PTI was in power, it took a number of steps for the protection of climate and also initiated a Billion Tree Tsunami and Ten Billion Tree programmes.
