- LHC rejects plea to remove Imran Khan as PTI chairman
- Lahore High Court declared the application ineffective
- The court said ECP is already working on this
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday declared the petition against Imran Khan to be removed from the post of party chairman ineffective.
A hearing was held in the Lahore High Court on the petition against former Prime Minister Imran Khan to remove him from the post of party chairman following his disqualification in the Toshakhana reference.
The Chief Justice of Lahore High Court declared the application ineffective and said that the application is already pending with the election commission.
The court also said that the commission has already been working on the petition.
Petitioner Afaq Ahmed submitted that Imran Khan cannot remain party chairman after his disqualification. “If a person cannot become a member of parliament, he cannot hold the position of party leader as well.”
The court remarked that Imran Khan was disqualified, but the court allowed him to contest seven elections, on which the petitioner’s lawyer said that the election schedule had already been released when the verdict was announced.
To which the court inquired the petitioner have you approached the court to remove Imran Khan from the post of party chairman or to tell about the qualification of a candidate?
