QUETTA: Keeping in view the recent financial crisis in Balochistan, the police department in the province has announced a reduction in the use of petrol by 50%.
The sources said that the police department has reduced the petrol of the office staff by 50%, and it has been decided to give petrol and diesel according to the quota for police stations and patrolling.
Moreover, the department has also decided to take back the luxury vehicles given to the police officers and exchange them by small cars.
The sources further said that it has also been decided to take back additional security vehicles from the police officers.
Notably, the financial crisis in Balochistan has been intensifying and the province is looking toward the center for assistance in this regard.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo called the federal government to play its role in addressing the wheat shortage and financial crisis.
He maintained that a shortfall in the projected National Finance Commission (NFC) transfers for the current financial year had aggravated the problem.
“We have told the federation repeatedly that we are not begging but asking for our share projected in the NFC award.”
He also said that if the federation does not look into the matter then the province would be unable to pay the salaries to its employees.
