Khabib Nurmagomedov has retired from MMA coaching

  • Legendary UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov will leave his coaching position.
  • He plans to spend more time with his daughter and two sons.
  • The former fighter had a 29-0 record in mixed martial arts.

Khabib Nurmagomedov, the legendary UFC champion, has announced that he will leave his coaching position two years after his unexpected retirement from fighting.

When his father died in 2020, Khabib, regarded as one of the greatest fighters of all time, decided to hang up his gloves and spend more time with his family.

He did, however, spend a good deal of the last two years travelling because of his duties as Eagle FC’s promoter and his position as a cornerman for world champions like Islam Makhachev and his nephew Usman Nurmagomedov.

The former champion guided Makhachev to the UFC and Bellator lightweight titles, respectively.

On Saturday, he posted a picture of a Russian news article to Instagram, implying that he is done with MMA and will step down as coach and promoter of Eagle FC.

“Khabib has announced his retirement from the MMA industry. It is about coaching and everything MMA-related. The reason for this is Khabib’s desire to spend more time with his family “the post stated.

Nurmagomedov plans to retire in order to spend more time with his daughter and two sons, according to Javier Mendez, the fighter’s trainer and fellow coach at the American Kickboxing Academy, who earlier revealed this to Yahoo Sports.

“Simply put, he doesn’t want to miss out on being a father. He told me about his plan and that he intended to inform the team of his choice when we last spoke, which was about three weeks ago. He is acting appropriately in this situation. He simply wants to spend more time with his family because he is a family man “Added Mendez.

It is important to note that the former fighter, who had a 29-0 record in mixed martial arts, announced his retirement at the conclusion of his third UFC title defence against Justin Gaethje at
