New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson believes Pakistan are a very good side in home conditions ahead of the two countries’ three-match ODI series.

During a press conference in Karachi on Sunday, the right-hander revealed details about the series, which begins on Monday, January 9.

“Pakistan are a very strong side and naturally know these conditions really well. For us as a time, it is focusing on the cricket we want to play and put out some improved performances. It is a really good opportunity for us to adjust to some different conditions,” Williamson said.

The prolific batter also spoke about his conversation with Pakistan batting coach Muhammad Yousuf.

“Muhammad Yousuf is an absolute legend. He has got so much to offer. It was great to ask a few questions and hear some of his views on the game,” he said.

It should be mentioned that Pakistan’s penultimate couple, Naseem Shah and Abrar Ahmed, survived 21 balls in losing light on Friday, while Sarfaraz Ahmed produced a fighting century to deny New Zealand a victory, bringing the second Test to a thrilling draw.

New Zealand were on the verge of a series-clinching success after dismissing Sarfaraz for a career-high 118 with 39 balls remaining.

As twilight descended, though, Naseem scored 15 and Ahmed seven to help Pakistan reach 304-9 in pursuit of a 319-run target when umpires Alex Wharf and Aleem Dar judged the light unfit to continue with three overs remaining.

The two-match series finished in a stalemate after the first Test, also in Karachi, ended in a tie, depriving New Zealand of their first series win in Pakistan in 53 years.
