Weather Update: Karachi to experience strong, cold winds

KARACHI: Residents will experience strong winds and colder weather on Saturday (tomorrow) as the minimum temperature is expected to drop to 13° centigrade.

According to reports, western winds are expected to cause rain and snowfall in Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat and other areas of Balochistan on January 7. The system is expected to enter the northern areas on January 8.

The temperature in Karachi is expected to drop after rain and snowfall in Balochistan. Strong, dry, cold wind would start blowing from the north in Karachi from January 10-11, decreasing the temperature to single digits. The temperature will fluctuate between 11-13°C on Saturday and Sunday.

The maximum temperature in Karachi on Friday was recorded at 25.5 degrees centigrade. The Clifton PWS Recorded a maximum temperature of 24° Celsius, while other areas recorded at 23-24° Celsius.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), winds blowing at the speed of 10km/h can reach 18 kilometers per hour.

The MET office said cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country, while very cold in upper parts and north Balochistan.

It stated that frost is expected in Potohar region while partly cloudy weather with light rain  and snowfall is likely in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.  The temperature in Balochistan plummeted below 0°C, with Kalat recording the lowest -7°C on Friday.
