LG polls Islamabad: IHC sets ECP intra-court appeal admissible

  • IHC declared ECP intra-court appeal admissible
  • IHC requested parties to respond by next Monday
  • ECP filed against IHC decision to hold LG polls

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday sets the intra-court appeal against the decision taken for LG polls in Islamabad as admissible.

Islamabad High Court issued a notice in this regard and requested the parties in the case to respond by coming Monday.

However, the request to null and void the single bench decision was rejected.

Earlier, ECP filed an intra-court appeal against the Islamabad High Court’s decision to conduct the LG polls in the capital (Dec 31).

The ECP filed the intra-court appeal

against the court’s verdict for its inability to conduct the polls on such short notice. The court will hear the appeal this week as well.

Meanwhile, the electoral body is making preparations to hold the Local Government elections in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) this week.

Sources revealed the ECP is gearing up to conduct the polls this week and has issued directives to transfer the election material to the polling stations on an emergency basis.
