Chelsea‘s quest to reclaim a playoff spot in the Premier League table was dealt another blow on Sunday, when a goal from Serge Aurier gave Nottingham Forest a 1-1 draw with Graham Potter’s Blues.
Chelsea, coming off their first league win in six games last time out against Bournemouth, started strongly in the rain of Nottingham, with Raheem Sterling scoring the game’s first goal for his team in the 16th minute.
Forest played better after the break and were unlucky not to tie the game early on when Morgan Gibbs-drilled White’s half volley hit the underside of the crossbar but bounced on the goal line and away.
Forest looked the more likely winner after Aurier scored his first goal for his new club in the 63rd minute, but the home team continued pressing and eventually equalised.
They were unable to come from behind, though, and as Chelsea hung on for a point, they now sit in eighth place, seven points behind Manchester United in fourth.
The home team is still in danger of relegation, although they are now tied for 18th place with West Ham United on 14 points.
