As a kind gesture, a pizza shop owner in Edinburgh has offered to give everyone in the city a free pizza for the next month.
Marc Wilkinson, who owns Pure Pizza in Morningside and is 55 years old, said he was planning a big act of kindness to help people who are struggling with the cost of living crisis.
He also said that it would give his part-time workers more to do.
He said, “I’m very happy with my plan because it’s good for everyone.”
“Customers, suppliers, and my team of chefs all benefit from this because it gives them more hours to work.
“I keep hearing about how the cost of living is affecting so many people, and I thought that since my ovens are on all day anyway, they might as well work at full capacity if it helps people.
“I’m really interested in being kind to other people, so I wanted to try it.”
He thought it would cost around £12,000.
Mr. Wilkinson opened the business when the lockdown started in March 2020. He says that his ovens can make 18 pizzas every six minutes.
People who come to his shop on Morningside Drive in January will get free pizzas, but they won’t be available between 17:30 and 20:30.
He wants anyone who takes him up on the offer to do something nice for someone else.
They only have to give a valid cell phone number.
“I hope my idea doesn’t get out of hand, but I’m not going to start asking for proof of address. They won’t have to bring in a council tax bill with their address on it,” he said.
