Brentford FC has brought back two of its on-loan players as they prepare to make a push to move up the standings in the remaining half of the league. The team is now ranked 10th in the table after a victory and a draw as Premier League action resumed after the World Cup.
Mads Bech, a centre back from OSG Nice in France, and Fin Stevens, a defender from Swansea City in the Championship, have both been called back after year-long loan spells at Brentford, the club said on Sunday.
The fact that Brentford made this announcement on the first day of the start of the transfer market, Mads Bech has been recalled to Brentford from his loan stay with OGC Nice, even if the two young players might not be fielded in Monday’s game against Liverpool FC.
The 23-year-old signed a season-long loan agreement with the Ligue 1 team in September but failed to play for Lucien Favre’s team in a match. According to a statement on Brentford’s website, the center-back was selected for all six of Nice’s Europa Conference League games, which helped them finish first in their group, as well as four Ligue 1 games.
Bech made three substitute Premier League appearances for Thomas Frank’s Bees in August, as well as a goal-scoring start against Colchester United in an EFL Cup second-round triumph, before departing for France.
Stevens, a member of Wales’ under-21 national team, joined Swansea on a temporary basis in September and went on to make five substitute appearances for Russell Martin’s team. Additionally, Stevens was included in the matchday squad for six additional Championship games.
Since joining Brentford in July 2020 as a B-team player, the 19-year-old Stevens has participated in 10 matches.
Stevens spent the rest of the season hanging out with the first-team group after earning his varsity debut in a victory over Fulham in the Carabao Cup in October 2020. On April 2021, he faced Preston North End in his league debut. By the end of the year, he had made five appearances, including two in the Championship.
Since his debut at age 17, he has also played 10 times for Wales’ under-21 team.
