On the north face of Ben Nevis, an avalanche claimed the life of a man.
At around 15:35 GMT on Friday, emergency services were alerted to the avalanche, and the 48-year-old was declared dead there.
Another 40-year-old guy was injured seriously and brought to Belford Hospital in Fort William. Their surviving relatives have been notified.
The avalanche was roughly 600 metres long, according to the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, which was called in with a helicopter (1969ft).

The mountain rescue team informed the relatives of the climbers that the guys had been located at number two gully in a Facebook post.
The article stated that the helicopter could only provide so much assistance due to the difficult conditions the weather had created.
This required a prolonged extrication of the victims, and eight hours after the initial call, the casualty was transferred to the Belford Hospital for additional evaluation and care.
Rob Brown, a different climber, perished in a mishap on the mountain’s north face in August.
