Govt cuts LPG price by Rs11.60 a kg for Jan

KARACHI: The government on Friday announced a big relief by reducing price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) by Rs11.60 a kilogramme for January, 2023.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has released a notification in this regard. The notification read that domestic cylinder of LPG has been made cheaper by Rs136.86 and its new price has been fixed at Rs2,411.43. In December, the domestic cylinder was sold for Rs2,548.29.

On August1, Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had reduced the price of Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by Rs3 per kilogramme.

In this regard, a notification had been issued over the reduction in prices. The price of LPG had been fixed at Rs218 per kg for the month of August 2022.  The price of a domestic cylinder had been reduced by Rs30 and commercial cylinders by Rs114.

Chairman of LPG distributors association Irfan Khokhar had said all dealers should buy and sell at the stipulated prices. The gas was being sold for up to Rs250 per kg in the open market. He had said an LPG policy should be formulated for the improvement of the industry.

It must be noted that the gas prices had seen the third increase in days without an official notification. Distributors had already threatened a nationwide strike and sit-in against the price hike.
