KARACHI: This year the residents of Karachi will be able to enjoy the New Year celebrations at Sea View, Bol News reported.

SSP South Asad Raza said Sea View area would remain open for general public this year as the New Year was just around the corner. “The citizens can celebrate the New Year on their favourite recreational spot,” the police officer said adding that extraordinary security measures would be taken on December 31’s night.

He said more than 2,500 police personnel would perform their duties at Sea View and its adjacent areas. The citizens could observe the New Year celebrations within legal limits, however nobody would be allowed to do hooliganism, he maintained.

The SSP South warned that strict action would be taken against those carrying out aerial firing and a case of attempted murder would be lodged. “Aerial firing, one-wheeling and unsafe driving will not be allowed,” he said.

He said mounted police on the beach and Shaheen Force on roads would be deployed for protection of citizens. 150 lady constables would perform security duties on New Year night.

Asad Raza said the roads along Sea View would be made one-way in the night of December 31 from 10:00pm onwards. He said the citizens should avoid unnecessary fireworks at Sea View.

On December 25, Consul-General of Germany in Karachi Dr Rudiger Lotz had extended greetings on the festive occasion of Christmas and the holiday season.

In a video message on the occasion, the German diplomat had said Year 2022 had not been an easy year.

“At the beginning of the year, we were facing the corona pandemic. We have witnessed the terrible war of Russia against Ukraine,” he had said.

He had highlighted that Pakistan had to face the consequences of an unprecedented flood disaster. He hoped that the coming New Year 2023 will bring a change for the better.

“Let’s hope the upcoming Year 2023 will bring a turn for the better as the year comes to a close” he had added.
