QUETTA: At least seven grenade explosions occurred across Balochistan on Sunday amid a new wave of terrorism, injuring around 19 people, BOL News reported.
There were three explosions in the provincial capital Quetta while one explosion each in Khuzdar, Hub, Turbat, and Kalat. At least 15 people, including women and children, were injured in Quetta and Hub grenade attacks.
The first incident occurred on Sabzal Road in Quetta when a grenade exploded near a police station. A woman, two children and a youth were injured in the attack. A grenade was also found at the scene which was defused by bomb disposal squad.
Another attack took place near the Frontier Corps check post in the satellite town of Quetta. The explosion took place just 100 meters away from the check post of the security forces.
Police said there was no loss of life while eight others were injured in the incident. The injured were shifted to the Trauma Centre of Civil Hospital where they are undergoing treatment. Frontier Corps, Police and security agencies have launched an investigation in the incident.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abdul Haq Umrani said that a policeman was also injured in the incident. He said the police had cordoned off the area and initiated an investigation. He said that at least eight people were injured in the Satellite Town blast.
In Hub, a grenade explosion in front of Saddar police station injured three people. The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital Hub while a bomb disposal squad was called and a search operation was initiated in the area.
A police vehicle was also hit with a hand grenade in Khuzdar. No casualties were reported in the attack on Jilani Chowk. Miscreants attacked a truck with a hand grenade in Kalat on the Quetta-Karachi national highway. The truck was loaded with marble. No casualties were reported in the attack.
Another hand grenade attack in Turbat at a check post of security forces. There was no loss of life. A hand grenade attack was also reported on Sariab Road Quetta.
Chief Minister and Home Minister Balochistan have strongly condemned the incident and paid homage to the martyrs in the war against terrorism and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. They ordered tightening security across the province.
In another incident, five soldiers including a captain were martyred in an IED blast in Kahan area of Balochistan. The blast happened when clearance operation was ongoing against militants in the area.
