KARACHI: The government has jacked up duty on items of ‘Lunda Bazaar’ (flea market) by Rs9.3 a kilogramme, Bol News reported.
This will add further burden on poor who are already fatigued of inflation. After the increase in duty on the used imported items, warm clothes including sweaters, blankets and coats would become more expensive.
Prices of curtains, belts, purses, jackets and toys would also climb in the flea market with this tax.

The government is already charging 5 per cent sales tax, 5 per cent customs duty, 10 per cent regulatory duty and 5.5 per cent income tax on the flea market goods.
On December 16, Karachi Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal Memon had decided to increase milk price by Rs10 a litre, Bol News had reported.
Acceding to the pressure of dairy farmers, the Karachi commissioner had increased the milk rate from Rs170 to Rs180 a litre. Only this year, the commissioner had increased official milk price by Rs50 a litre.
In October, he had jacked up the milk price from Rs120 to Rs170 a litre. Whereas, milk was already being sold from Rs180 to Rs200 a litre in the megalopolis.
