LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided that Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi will seek a vote of confidence before the provincial assembly is dissolved.

PTI senior leader Fawad Chaudhry says that the party leadership has decided that the Punjab Chief Minister will receive a vote of confidence.

Talking to media along with provincial minister Aslam Iqbal, the former federal minister said that the assembly will be dissolved after the process of taking the vote of confidence by the chief minister is completed.

Fawad Chaudhry said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan held a meeting of the senior leadership of Punjab during which it was decided to take the vote of confidence. He said a party delegation meet Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and fix the date when all MPAs will give their vote of confidence.

Regarding the resignations from the National Assembly, he said that Speaker is not present whenever they go for the approval of their resignations.

“Whenever we go to the assembly and ask to approve the resignation, the speaker runs away. For the first time in the history of Pakistan, 127 resignations were received,” he said.

He said the court has stated in the verdict that the vote of confidence can be taken at any time. He said Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain is an elderly man but his meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will not be of any use.

The former federal minister further said that terrorism has reached Islamabad. He claimed that terrorism was nonexistent in their era while stability is impossible without transparent elections. He said the current rulers have disappointed the people.

It must be mentioned that a session of the Punjab Assembly has been summoned on 11 January, 2023. The PTI has also instructed all MPAs who are currently abroad to return home.

The date for receiving the vote of confidence has not been confirmed. However, it has been decided that a PTI delegations will visit the residence of CM Punjab to finalize the date.
