Islamabad blast: Security on high alert in all major cities

  • All the entry and exit points have been under strict security
  • Blast left one cop dead and several injured

ISLAMABAD: Following the suicidal attempt in the capital, security has been set on high alert in all major cities of the country.

In the wake of a possible terrorist attack, security measures have been tightened in the cities including Quetta, Lahore, twin cities, Karachi and Peshawar.

In Quetta, the entry and exit points have been under strict security. On the other hand, additional personnels have been deployed at the mosques and imam bargahs of the city.

Meanwhile, in Punjab, the IG has issued instructions to tighten the security arrangements of sensitive and public places in all districts.

All RPOs and DPOs have been directed to increase security at important installations, places of worship, hospitals and other sensitive places including parks and asked to speed up the search, sweep and combing operations in all districts.

According to the instructions of IG Punjab, the checking process at inter-provincial and inter-district check posts should be made more effective, while Special Branch and CTD have also been instructed to speed up intelligence-based operations.

Pertinently, a suicide blast attempt was foiled in Islamabad today when a vehicle carrying explosives was stopped by security over suspiciousness.

The bomber blew himself resulting in the death of one cop and leaving several others injured.
