- Josh Hazlewood missed the first Test against South Africa.
- Josh hopes to be fit for Boxing Day Test after bowling in nets with a 90% effort.
- Australia will have a very difficult option to make.
Josh Hazlewood, an injured Australian quick, is confident that he can return for the Boxing Day Test (second game), which begins on December 26 at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The match is against South Africa.
Hazlewood missed both the first Test against South Africa at The Gabba, which ended in two days, and the series-clinching victory over West Indies due to a side injury. The bowler hopes to play in the Boxing Day Test after bowling in the nets on Sunday with a 90% effort. According to Hazlewood, “everything is moving forward well and proceeding as planned.”
The final check we’re looking for is for me to bowl two spells of four or five overs with a break on April 24. If I do that, then perhaps I’ll be available for selection. I’ll build it up over the next two weeks and maybe check the final box on April 24. Fingers crossed, I’m not even sensing the side,” he continued.
The 31-year-old made a suggestion that playing all three formats may have contributed to his recurring injuries.
“This time has been a little frustrating. particularly the red ball White-ball has been operating flawlessly. Maybe that’s the price of participating in all three forms and giving each game your all, he said.
“You don’t have that time to prepare for a Test match by increasing your effort or building up your strength. He continued, “I might have to think about that and figure out a way around it somehow.
If Hazlewood is available, Australia will have a very difficult option to make because Scott Boland has continued to retain his incredible record in Test cricket with two strong performances in the most recent two Tests. In two exciting days during which 34 wickets fell, the hosts concluded the first Test against South Africa.
