Four children die of measles in Lasbela district

QUETTA: At Least four children died due to measles outbreak whereas dozens of children are affected in Lasbela District of Balochistan on Sunday.

Measles outbreak spread in Union Council Shehkar Sheikh. The ages of the dead children are said to be eight to ten years.

Deputy Commissioner Lasbela Murad Khan Kasi  said that health teams have been sent to the affected areas to control the measles outbreak.

According to him, dozens of children are affected by the measles outbreak, more than 30 children have been vaccinated.

“According to local people, four children have died due to measles outbreak,” DC Lasbela Murad Khan Kasi.

Residents of the urban and remote areas of Lasbela district are informed that there are reports of outbreak of measles in different areas of Lasbela district, statement of Health Department, Lasbela.

“Make sure to vaccinate your children against measles and cooperate fully with the Health Department in Lasbella and protect your children from measles by contacting the EPI center immediately to prevent any loss of life.  Cooperate with health, this is a deadly disease, people should be careful,” Health Department said.

Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo has taken a notice of social media reports about the outbreak of measles among children in Lasbela district.

The chief minister instructed the DHO Lasbela to immediately take all necessary measures to prevent the epidemic in the affected areas.

“Ensure the presence of all necessary medical personnel in the affected areas,” Chief Minister Balochistan said.

He said that DHO Lasbela Dr. Qamar Ronjhu visited the affected area village Alana Sabra Gumbat UC Shah, Tehsil Lakhara along with the medical team.

About 35 km north-west from DHQ Hospital Uthal, 3 deaths have occurred due to measles, said DHO Lasbela.
