- Asif Ali Zardari met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif
- Both agreed to stop dissolution of Punjab Assembly
- Zardari will also meet Chaudhry Shujaat in Lahore
LAHORE: Former President and PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and agreed to make efforts to stop the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly.
Zardari reached the residence of the PML-N President in Model Town to discuss the political situation arising after PTI Chairman Imran Khan announced to dissolve the provincial assembly next week.
Sources privy to the meeting said both leaders agreed to prevent the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly at all costs. Both agreed that that will now allow the dissolution of the assembly or early elections on Imran’s whims.
To prevent the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly, both decided to move a no-confidence against the Chief Minister Punjab or instruct the Governor to call on the chief minister to receive a vote of confidence option. Sources revealed they agreed to use both options at the same time.
They decided to take decisive action against those who were conspiring to push the country toward economic default. They also consulted on matters related to relief to the public and increasing economic activities.
They concurred that the allied parties would enhance their political strength. They were unanimous in their view that political stability was imperative for the economic progress of Pakistan
They resolved that the coalition government would continue to move forward for political stability and economic development.
PM Shehbaz Sharif also took Zardari into confidence over his meeting with PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. Zardari will also meet Chaudhry Shujaat and other political figures in Lahore after Shehbaz Sharif’s visit.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday visited the residence of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain in Lahore.
The prime minister inquired about the well-being of the veteran politician. Federal Ministers Tariq Bashir Cheema, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan were also present in the meeting.
PM Shahbaz Sharif and Chaudhry Shujaat also discussed the political situation. The prime minister informed about the efforts regarding the restoration of the economy and provision of relief of the people.
Chaudhry Shujaat appreciated the sincere efforts of the prime minister to get the country and people out of problems.
They two leaders agreed to make mutual cooperation effective and strong. Both agreed that political stability and close cooperation are necessary to get the country out of the problems being faced.
