  • Ramiz Raja was chosen unanimously and without opposition.
  • Raja played 255 international matches between 1984 and 1997.
  • Sethi served as the chairman of the PCB in 2013 and 2014.

The Pakistan Cricket Board’s Ramiz Raja is the current chairman. The Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) has issued a report regarding the decision to replace him to the office of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif (PCB).

Former PCB Chairman Najam Sethi is reportedly in line to take over again as the nation’s cricket administrator, according.

On Saturday, Sethi also met with PM Shehbaz in Lahore, when the premier gave him the go-ahead for the position.

It should be recalled that Raja, a former captain of Pakistan and 1992 World Cup champion, was chosen unanimously and without opposition as the 36th Chairman of the PCB for a three-year term in September of last year.

Raja played 255 international matches between the years of 1984 and 1997, leading Pakistan in 18 Test matches and 12 One-Day Internationals. During this time, he amassed 8,674 runs. He served as the PCB’s Chief Executive from 2003 to 2004. He has also represented Pakistan on the ICC Chief Executives’ Committee. Currently, he is a member of the MCC World Cricket Committee.

The 60-year-old is well known as the voice of Pakistan cricket and has had success as a broadcaster for some of the world’s top cricket networks.

After Abdul Hafeez Kardar (1972–1977), Javed Burki (1994–1955), and Ijaz Butt, Raja is just the fourth former Pakistani international cricketer to serve as the PCB’s head (2008-2011).

When Imran Khan was sworn in as prime minister in 2018, Sethi resigned from his position as PCB chairman. He was appointed in 2017 for a three-year tenure, but due to his strained relationship with Khan, he resigned early.

In 2013 and 2014, Sethi served as the chairman of the PCB.

PM Shehbaz is also anticipated to endorse the reinstatement of the PCB’s 2014 constitution, which will open the door for the revival of departmental cricket in the nation. The PCB’s 2019 constitution will be revoked as a result.
