On Sunday, during the second Test between Pakistan and England in Multan, Imam was taken to the hospital for MRI scans.
During the third day of the match, Imam “felt uneasy in his right hamstring,” according to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
In place of Imam, wicketkeeper and batsman Mohammad Rizwan and Abdullah Shafique opened the second innings for Pakistan.
Azam said that the team’s fitness wasn’t affected by the fact that players kept getting hurt.
He said, “We have played a lot of cricket over the past year or so and had no time to rest. Due to lack of rest, you have seen many injuries recently,”
“Injuries are part and parcel of the game but we will have to look after this since it is not an excuse. We know when we have to play cricket so we should plan accordingly so that there are fewer injuries,” he further added
It should be mentioned that England won the toss and used their batting depth to win the first Test by 74 runs on a dead track that provided little to the bowlers.
Rawalpindi scored 1,768 runs in four innings, which is the third-highest total in Test history, with seven centuries and five fifties.
Ben Stokes’ team won the second Test in Multan by 26 runs after Pakistan failed to chase down a 355-run total.
England is on their first Test tour of Pakistan since 2005, after declining to travel in the intervening years due to security concerns.
