In the next eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Peshawar Zalmi will be led by Pakistani batting legend Babar Azam, the team announced on Wednesday.
Babar, the most successful batter in the history of the league and Pakistan’s all-format captain, just left Karachi Kings.
In one of the greatest transactions of the competition last month, Zalmi acquired Babar in the Platinum division and the first selection in the additional round for Haider Ali and Shoaib Malik, who transferred to Karachi Kings in the Platinum and Diamond divisions, respectively.
Babar joined the Kings in 2017 and has since left Islamabad United. With 2,413 runs scored in 68 games, the talented right-hander holds the record for most PSL runs scored.

The Kings, captained by Azam, made PSL history by becoming the first team to drop nine games in a row during the previous season.
On December 15, the PSL season 8 player draught will take place in Karachi. According to PCB, the announcement was made after talking with all teams.
Usman Wahla, the tournament’s director, predicted that the addition of several well-known players will make PSL 8 more significant.
This year’s PSL season will be larger and better thanks to the availability of certain major cricketers, he claimed. Lahore Qalandars, the defending champions, will make the first pick in the draught, according to the pick order already made public by the PCB.
Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators will be selected second and third, respectively. Karachi Kings and Islamabad United will make the fourth and fifth selections, respectively. Peshawar Zalmi will choose sixth, in the meantime.
A unique statistical tool was used to determine the outcomes of the next 17 rounds.
PSL 8 is slated to take place in Karachi, Multan, Rawalpindi, and Lahore from February 9 to March 19. Defending champion Lahore Qalandars will compete.
