German Ambassador to Pakistan Alfred Grannas and German Consul General in Karachi Dr. Rüdiger Lotz visited Gwadar on Sunday.
Director General Gwadar Development Authority Mujeeb ur Rahman Qambrani gave a detailed briefing to the German ambassadors on their arrival at his office regarding the development projects and expected investment fields in Gwadar.
He said that Gwadar has always been important in terms of economic and strategic world level due to its natural geographical location. “Given Gwadar’s global importance, GDA is implementing the Smart Port City Master Plan, under which various projects are underway to build international level infrastructure and provide basic necessities of life in the city.”

With the completion of this, Gwadar will emerge as a tourist and economic hub where immense investment opportunities will be available. For this purpose, Gwadar International Airport will be completed next year, which will be the shortest means of providing access to Gwadar to the world.
Currently, there are opportunities to invest in the renewable energy sector, including tourism. There is a plan to start a ferry service from Gwadar to Karachi, Iran, Oman and other Gulf countries, for which investment will be invited under the private partnership.
The region is naturally viable for solar and wind energy. Investments will be encouraged in the Central Business District, Free Economic Zone where there are various attractive and safe investment incentives including tax holidays. The German ambassadors expressed their interest while discussing various avenues of investment and praised the construction and development of the city’s basic infrastructure and economic projects under the Gwadar Master Plan.
