Local Government elections kick off in three districts of Balochistan

  • The polling will continue till 5 pm without any break.
  • The elections are being held in district Lasbela, Hub, and municipal committee, Haramzai of district Pashin.
  • At least 13 polling stations and 30 polling booths have been set up for holding elections in the municipal committee, Haramzai, Pishin district.

 

QUETTA: The Local Government (LG) elections in three districts of Balochistan province have started and polling will continue till 5 pm without any break.

According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the elections are being held in district Lasbela, Hub, and municipal committee, Haramzai of district Pashin.

“There are 272,323 registered voters in these two districts, with 153,236 male and 119,087 female voters. There are 259 polling stations and 690 polling booths to facilitate the voters. While, some 6,151 male and 4,739 female voters are set to choose their representatives for the municipal committee, Haramzai, Pishin, District” ECP added.

At least 13 polling stations and 30 polling booths have been set up for holding elections in the municipal committee, Haramzai, Pishin district.

A total of 79 candidates are contesting local body polls in the municipal committee, Haramzai. Nine polling stations have been declared sensitive while 42 polling stations have been declared highly sensitive.

On other hand, 27 candidates have been elected unopposed in 146 wards of elections in Balochistan.

Earlier, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has amended its affidavit for election candidates after the disqualification of former PTI leader Faisal Vawda.

The candidates have to submit the new version of the affidavit in future elections of the Senate and assembly membership.

A clause related to misinformation has been added in the new affidavit under which the membership will stand canceled over misinformation in the election papers.
