No law exists to catch white collar crimes: Imran Khan

  • Chairman PTI Imran Khan speaking on the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day said that countries become poor due to elite’s corruption.

LAHORE: Former prime minister and Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) Imran Khan has said that there are no laws to catch a white-collar crime in the country and added that corruption damages the states.

Chairman PTI Imran Khan speaking on the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day said that countries become poor due to elite’s corruption and the biggest problem of poor states is the lack of foreign exchange reserves.

He said that no country can progress until the rule of law is maintained and added that after bringing the powerful under the law, corruption is controlled. A country suffers the most from corrupt practices, he said.

He further said that thieves have come and sat in the country. He said rulers of the last 30 years amended the NAB law as soon as they came and after which they have been given a license to steal.

He said that the money looted from the country and the nation is converted into dollars and sent to foreign countries.

He said that in this country there is no system to catch white-collar crime and corruption and there is no law due to this corruption increases which seems to affect the structure of the country.

On the other hand, Chief Minister of Punjab Pervaiz Elahi while addressing the ceremony on International Anti-Corruption Day said that every government has fulfilled the desire for accountability, those who commit corruption should fear Allah.

He said that Jihad against corruption should be a part of faith and added that if faith is strong then someone will not be able to think of corruption.

Pervaiz Elahi said that he has been contesting elections since 1977 and added that there is a need to revise some laws related to accountability. He said, “If the accountability laws are deficient, it will be filled by the assembly.”
