London: UK police announced Wednesday that they had charged a man after it was claimed that King Charles III was the target of an egg during a walkabout.

A 28-year-old male has been accused of a public order offence, according to Bedfordshire Police.

In the town of Luton, which is located north of London, police detained the guy on Tuesday after they said he had thrown an egg at the new king. He was granted bail and is scheduled to show up in court on January 9.

Charles, 74, was in Luton to inspect a new public transportation system, interact with community leaders and nonprofit organisations, and launch a new Sikh temple.

The event occurred less than a month after a man shouting “this country was established on the blood of slaves” and “not my king” threw eggs at Charles and his wife Queen Consort Camilla in York.

A student at a university, the suspect was later released on bail.
