KARACHI: Amid winter, the gas crisis has intensified in the metropolitan city and the supply is completely shut in many areas of Karachi since last night.
As per details, the gas crisis soared in the last 24 hours to an extent that almost all major areas have been deprived of the basic facility during winter.
Many areas of Karachi including Landhi No. 4, North Karachi, Gulistan Johar, Gulshan Iqbal, North Nazimabad, Sir Syed Town, Nagin Chowrangi, Orangi Site, Railway Colony, Rashid Minhas Road, FB Area, Gadap, Kathore and New Karachi are facing severe problems due to non-supply of gas.
Residents of all these areas have been facing difficulties due to gas outages.
Sources said that the current demand for gas in Karachi city is 1250 mmcfd while the gas supply is 900 to 1000 mmcfd. Due to cold weather, gas demand has increased and SSGC is facing a shortfall of 280 mmcfd.
