Lionel Messi missed Paris Saint-2-1 Germain’s win against Lorient on Sunday due to an inflamed Achilles tendon, two weeks before World Cup 2022.
Leo Messi will continue treatment for an inflamed Achilles tendon as a precaution. On Saturday, PSG stated on their website that he would begin training next week.
In a news conference on Friday, PSG boss Christoph Galtier said he expects Messi to play in their final league game before the World Cup against Auxerre on November 13.
Argentina will worry about Messi’s inflamed tendon with Angel di Maria and Paulo Dybala injured.
Messi told DirecTV Sports in October that injuries are a concern.
“This World Cup is played at a different time of year than past championships, and any little thing might force you out. When you see what happened to Dybala and Di Maria, you worry and are more afraid.”
Argentina face Saudi Arabia on November 22.
Messi’s fifth and final World Cup chance is Qatar 2022. His first trophy with Argentina was last year’s Copa America, and Argentina’s prospects for a World Cup win since 1986 rest on him.
This season, Messi has 12 goals and 14 assists.
Timo Werner and Ben Chilwell joined the World Cup injury list last week.
