Defence, maritime security cooperation can become binding factor in Pakistan-Oman strategic partnership: COAS

RAWALPINDI: Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Pakistan Dr Al Sheikh Mohammed Omar Ahmed Al Marhoon recently called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the General Headquarters (GHQ) and discusses various matters including defence.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security situation and partnership in various fields were discussed. The army chief said that Pakistan valued its brotherly relations with Gulf countries and Pakistan-Oman relations were close, warm, cordial and deep.

Qamar Bajwa also expressed that two countries had great potential for cooperation in defence and maritime security which could become a binding factor in their strategic partnership.

The ambassador of Oman expressed his grief over the devastation caused by floods in Pakistan and offered sincere condolence to the families of the victims.

The visiting dignitary also appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for regional stability and pledged to play his role for further improvement in diplomatic cooperation with Pakistan at all levels.

On November 2, General Qamar Javed Bajwa had visited the headquarters of the Army Strategic Forces Command (ASFC).

During the visit, he had interacted with officers and troops and appreciated their professionalism and high state of morale, a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

Earlier on arrival, the army chief was received by Commander Army Strategic Forces Command, Lieutenant General Muhammad Ali.

On November 1, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa had visited Headquarters Army Air Defence Command.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief had paid rich tribute to the supreme sacrifices of officers and personnel of the Pakistan Army Air Defence.
