ISLAMABAD: Minster for Railways and Aviation Khawaja Saad Rafique on Friday said China had agreed to provide Pakistan with latest meteorological equipment to effectively forecast the environmental changes and natural calamities.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, Saad Rafique said several agreements were reached during visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to China.
The minister said China had not only expressed readiness to complete the ML-I railway project but also in upgrading Pakistan’s meteorological warning systems with the help of Chinese experts to prevent and tackle natural disasters by timely alerts.
About the political situation in the country, the minister strongly condemned the incident of firing on Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI)’s long march in Wazirabad on November 3. He called for a joint investigation team comprising competent officers to probe into the incident.

Meanwhile, investigation regarding the gun attack on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has been handed over to the Counter-Terrorism Department, security sources said.
The sources also informed that the main accused Naveed was also transferred to Lahore for the probe. Interrogation of the accused by important institutions including CTD started.
It was also revealed that 11 bullet casings were found on the spot, out of which nine casings belonged to pistols and two to big guns.
The Wazirabad police have said that all the information and evidence have been collected from the crime scene by the police and agencies.
The incident – that claimed one life and left 13 injured including PTI chief Imran Khan and other party leaders – took place yesterday when the march was moving towards Rawalpindi.
Soon after the incident, protests broke out in all major cities of Pakistan and the people came out to the streets to condemn the attack on Imran Khan.
