Detained PTI workers released after talks

All the detained workers were released after negotiations took place between the PTI leadership and the police.

PTI Karachi chapter Bilal Ghaffar said that all the detained workers would be released.“As soon as the workers come here, we will welcome them,” said Ghaffar. He announced that tomorrow evening at five, they would gather and protest at Shahrah-i-Faisal.

Earlier, police arrested a number of PTI workers, who were staging a protest demonstration against the murderous attack on their party chairman Imran Khan, near Regent Plaza on Shahrah-e-Faisal on Friday.

Bol News reported that a heavy contingent of police and Rangers was deployed to stop the PTI protest rally. The PTI activists and supporters were holding a peaceful protest after the Friday prayers. The police suddenly baton-charged the peaceful workers including women, children and elderly men, who gathered to record their protest against the assassination attempt against the leader.

The police fired tear gas shelling to disperse the protestors, who took shelter in nearby streets and buildings. The condition of women, children and elderly men worsened due to tear gas shelling. The police started arresting the workers including women and elderly men and leaders of the PTI.

Meanwhile, MPA Raja Azhar was shot on the toe and injured.

MNA Faheem Khan confirmed that Raja Azhar is injured and his foot is bleeding continuously and they have brought Raja to Jinnah Hospital.

He said that doctors are currently examining him whether the bullet has hit or not. In this regard, the doctors will tell in a while.

However, later he was arrested by the police. The PTI leaders strongly condemned the arrest and demanded the immediate release of the honorable MPA.

On the other hand, police shifted the arrested activists to different police stations in the city.

Due to the police action, the traffic was suspended on the Shahrah-e-Faisal and both tracks of the road were blocked by the police.

The report further said that the police had dispersed the protestors but sometimes they again gathered there and started their protest. Deployment of the police and rangers has been increased.

The protesters were dispersed on Sharah-e-Faisal and both tracks of the road have been opened for traffic, said the traffic police. There is no more disturbance in the flow of traffic on the road, it further said.

The protest ended but the heavy contingent of law enforcers is still present on the site to stop any expected protest of the PTI.

Meanwhile, PTI Sindh President and former federal minister Ali Zaidi condemned the baton charge and shelling against the PTI workers including women, children and elderly workers participating in the peaceful protest.
“We are constantly being targeted by state terrorism,” Zaidi lamented. Democracy has ended in the country, he added.

This imported government is now afraid of peaceful people, he observed and added that the days of the unscrupulous imported government are numbered.

Zaidi maintained that their protest would continue until the demand of Imran Khan are met

“I pay tribute to the workers on Shahrah Faisal,” he said.

However, PTI Karachi President Bilal Ghaffar will address an emergency press conference at Insaaf House at 7:30 pm on Friday.
