  • Cricket Ireland’s current advice is that the threat level won’t change as a result of this occurrence

Cricket Ireland was made aware of the attack on Imran Khan, the head of the PTI, on Thursday. However, following speaking with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the authorities agreed that the threat level would not alter.

According to a statement made by the PCB in this regard, Cricket Ireland is aware of an incident involving the former prime minister that occurred some 150 kilometres outside of the Lahore venue for the three ODIs and three T20Is between Ireland Women and Pakistan Women.

“Cricket Ireland is currently liaising with the PCB, in-country security advisers and diplomatic services,” It also stated that Chief Executive Warren Deutrom and Team Manager Beth Healy of Cricket Ireland had spoken with PCB Chief Executive Faisal Hasnain directly and received an updated assessment of the situation on the ground.

It was also indicated that Cricket Ireland’s current advice is that the threat level won’t change as a result of this occurrence.

“The Ireland Women’s squad has been briefed, while Cricket Ireland’s security advisers will continue to review procedures and monitor the situation,” it was added.

The security plans and procedures already in place for the tour, however, are not currently expected to change.

The cricket board stated that updates would be sent if anything changed.
