- Mohammad Rizwan’s 849 rating points lead the ranking.
- New Zealand starter Devon Conway’s undefeated 92 against Australia.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam fell to fourth in the ICC T20I batter rankings. Azam dropped one rank after a golden duck against India in the T20 World Cup on Sunday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
After his 82-run triumph over Pakistan, Virat Kohli entered the top 10. The ex-captain ranks ninth.
Mohammad Rizwan’s 849 rating points lead the ranking.
New Zealand starter Devon Conway’s undefeated 92 against Australia moved him up three places to second.
“The innings sees Conway vault over India’s Suryakumar Yadav, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam and South Africa veteran Aiden Markram and within striking distance to challenge Rizwan for top billing at a career best rating of 831 rating points,” the ICC said in a press release.
“Allen too is on the move, with his swashbuckling knock against the Aussies enabling him improve a stunning 17 places to equal 13th overall on the batters list,” it continued.
Rizwan and Babar are the only Pakistani batsmen in the top 10 ICC T20I rankings.
ICC rankings place Pakistan’s top T20I bowler, Haris Rauf, at 15th. Shadab Khan is 16th.
Pakistan has no top-20 all-rounders.
How are player rankings calculated
Players are ranked 0–1000. If a player improves, his points rise; if he declines, they fall. “An algorithm, a set of pre-programmed computations based on various match circumstances, calculates each player’s performance inside a match,” the ICC writes on its website.
This calculation is done without human interaction or subjective judgement. “Each game structure has somewhat distinct factors,” it stated.
