Indian cricketers at the Twenty20 World Cup have complained about cold sandwiches after practice and ordered food online, a source told AFP on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the team trained optionally before their Super 12 match against the Netherlands at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday.

The fare was unsatisfactory.

“The team told the ground authorities about the meal we got,” the source said anonymously.

Will you enjoy a sandwich after three hours of exercise?

“I know all the teams are getting the same thing but most of them are not in a position to speak out.”

The wealthy Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is often accused of dictating to the world body.

“We did not train today and hope we get something better in our next net session,” the source said. “If not, the players will order online like we did on Tuesday.”

India has 25% of the world’s undernourished, according to the UN’s World Food Programme.

Rohit Sharma’s team beat Pakistan in a last-ball thriller in their opener on Sunday, and another win would boost their chances of reaching the semi-finals.

Local caterers in Australia are helping the International Cricket Council host the World Cup.
