ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday said it will not be useful to form a judicial commission on Bol news senior anchorperson Arshad Sharif’s murder at this stage and adjourned the hearing for a week.
Bol news anchorperson Arshad Sharif was allegedly shot dead by the Kenyan police nearby Nairobi a couple of days ago. Barrister Shoaib Razzak filed a petition Islamabad High Court demanding an investigation by forming a judicial commission into the killing of the journalist.
During the hearing of the case related to the investigation and return of the body of Arshad Sharif, Barrister Shoaib Razzak stated that the body of Arshad Sharif is reaching Pakistan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Interior are also cooperating. There is a request to form a judicial commission to investigate the murder.
Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Athar Minallah remarked that it is a matter of two different countries, the state institutions can better resolve this matter.
Chief Justice Athar Minallah said that it will not be useful to form a judicial commission at this stage and he have come today only to hear this case.
The Deputy Attorney General told the court that let Kenyan government report come and said this is a sad incident. He observed that a report should come from the Kenyan government and If they have any objection, then the case should be heard further.
The court remarked that journalistic organizations should be kept on board on the issue of inquiry and there will be no point in creating a commission at this stage. The Islamabad High Court adjourned the hearing of the case for a week.
