According to reports, Kanye West has retained Camille Vasquez, one of the lawyers who supported Johnny Depp in his landmark defamation case against Amber Heard and helped him prevail.
The Yeezy CEO’s business affairs, including contracts and deals, will be managed by the Los Angeles-based lawyer, 38, and her firm, Brown Rudnick.
West, whose name was officially changed to Ye in October 2021, seems to be in desperate need of Vasquez’s assistance as a number of his relationships are shrinking as a result of his contentious “White Lives Matter” T-shirts and anti-Semitic rants.
Adidas stated earlier this month that their contract with the “Jesus Walks” rapper was “under review,” and just this week, Balenciaga severed all relations with him.
Vasquez rose to prominence during Depp’s trial, in part as a result of reports that she was in a relationship with the 59-year-old “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor.
The attorney, however, denounced the accusations as “sexist” and “unethical,” respectively.
Vasquez, 36, earned admiration from the public for her cross-examination of Heard, and her business eventually promoted her to partner as a result of the trial.
In a press release from June, Brown Rudnick’s chairman and CEO William Baldiga stated, “We are pleased to welcome Camille to the partnership.”
“Historically, we have reserved this announcement for the end of our fiscal year. But Camille’s performance during the Johnny Depp trial proved to the world that she was ready to take this next step now. We are incredibly proud of her and look forward to what she will accomplish as our newest partner.”
It was impossible to immediately get a comment from Vasquez regarding whether or not she is West’s advocate. His representatives did not respond to our inquiries right away either.
When it comes to his attorneys, West has recently made a lot of hiring and firing decisions.
The father of four hired Robert Stephan Cohen, the former divorce attorney for Melinda Gates, in late September to help him in his dispute with Kim Kardashian.
Page Six was informed at the time that West had hired the senior partner at Cohen Clair Lans Greifer Thorpe & Rottenstreich LLP as counsel.
