Ireland cruised to a 147-run victory in the last group stage match with 15 balls to spare.
Paul Stirling shared a 73-run partnership with captain Andy Balbirnie for the first wicket and finished on 66 not out.
West Indies were reduced to 146-5 by a magnificent bowling performance, with leg-spinner Gareth Delany taking 3-16.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe advanced to the Super 12 stage of the Twenty20 World Cup for the first time on Friday, defeating Scotland by five wickets, with skipper Craig Ervine striking a half-century.
Tendai Chatara (2-14) and Richard Ngarava (2-28) bowled well to restrict the Scots to 132-6 before rattling through the run chase with nine balls to spare.
Zimbabwe has competed in five previous World Cups but had never advanced past the first round.
