We are so proud that The Legend of Maula Jatt has helped put Pakistani movies on the map around the world, and that it continues to win over audiences everywhere.
“The Legend of Maula Jatt has been our labour of love for a number of years,” said the film’s producer, Ammara Hikmat. The pandemic came and went, but we knew we had to wait for a theatrical release because the movie is best seen on a big screen. This has been proven by the sheer number of people who have gone to the theatres and the full-house screenings, which have prompted theatre owners to add more screenings on the weekends. We’re so happy that our movie has broken records and set a new standard for Pakistani movies. It has been loved and praised by audiences and critics all over the world, not just in Pakistan.
CEO of Mandviwalla Entertainment Nadeem Mandviwalla said, “Considering that the three biggest cinema chains, which make up more than 50 percent of cinemas in the country, have not supported the most expensive film of Pakistan, the Box Office Gross every day is astronomical and has never been seen before in the history of Pakistan industry.” In my 42 years, I have never seen a movie do as well as this one.
The Legend of Maula Jatt came out in theatres all over the world on October 13. The movie is a remake of the cult classic Maula Jatt from 1979. It tells the story of Punjab’s own superhero for an international audience.
