World Record: Man holds 150 lit candles in his mouth

  • A man from Idaho has broken the record for holding 150 lit candles in his mouth for 30 seconds.
  • David Rush had previously attempted to break the record in December, but some of the candles slipped out of his mouth.
  • The previous record was 105 candles, set in 2021 by a man from North Carolina named Garrett James.

In order to break a Guinness World Record, a man from Idaho holds 150 lit candles in his mouth for the full 30 seconds.

David Rush, who has broken nearly 250 Guinness World Records to promote STEM education, stated that he had previously attempted to break the same record in December, but he was unsuccessful because some of the candles slipped out of his mouth.

Rush described his most recent try as follows, “The weight of all the candles was intense and I had over 10 minutes of salivating making the candles slippery in my mouth,” and he said this of his most recent attempt. “After only five seconds, “Only 5 seconds in I could feel them slipping out so I had to clamp down even harder and bite in with my teeth to keep them from falling out.”

Rush stated that he donned eye protection during the effort; yet, he was still challenged by smoke inhalation and the fact that the candles became slippery due to his saliva.

Rush was able to successfully break the previous record of 105 candles, which had been set in 2021 by a man from North Carolina named Garrett James.
