Shaheen Shah Afridi, Pakistan’s current best fast bowler, gave appreciation to his brother Riaz Afridi, a former Test cricketer, for realizing his dream.
Shaheen claimed in the documentary about his ascent in cricket that his brother Riaz, who had already represented Pakistan, made it easier for him to play the game.
Shaheen, who competed in the U19 Asia Cup immediately after competing at the U16 level, stated, “I didn’t struggle much. The young fast bowler gave gratitude to his brother Riaz, who only played one Test match for Pakistan in 2004: “I got to play cricket too early and the main reason for it was my brother Riaz.”
Shaheen always wanted to represent Pakistan, but he never imagined that his wish would come true so quickly.
“My brother Riaz played a crucial part throughout. He used to guide me on every issue before coming into mainstream cricket,” he said. “I never imagined representing Pakistan this early.”
The documentary’s other subject, Riaz, said that his brother’s talent propelled him to new heights. He succeeded because of his talent, and we were proud of him, he added, adding that I always advised him not to use my name.
Since making his international debut in 2018 against the West Indies, Shaheen has played for Pakistan in 25 Tests, 32 ODIs, and 40 T20Is.
