ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) writes to Chief Justice (CJ) of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial against the custodial torture of Senator Azam Swati.
Following the arrest of Azam Swati, PTI sent a letter to CJ requesting to take notice of the severe mental and physical torture of the PTI leader.
The letter has been written by the PTI Senators maintaining that Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) raided Azam Swati’s residence late at night and he was assaulted for hours before presenting in court.
It was also said that the leader informed the court regarding the torture adding that he was also sexually assaulted during the detention.
The letter requested the CJ to take notice of the torture under Article 184 (3).
It is pertinent to mention here that the PTI leader was arrested in Islamabad over his controversial tweet. The FIA’s official adopted the stance that the PTI’s Senator Swati had deliberately tried to spread hate among youth and the public against the state institution through his statement. Azam Swati had been arrested after an FIR was registered against him.
Earlier, the court after physical remand sent Swati into judicial custody yesterday.
