KARACHI: The electoral body of Pakistan (ECP) will be deciding today on the local government (LG) polls in Karachi.

As per details, the commission will sit today to decide regarding the conduct or postponement of the local government elections in the metropolitan city.

Notably, the Sindh government has over and over requested the postponement of elections claiming the conditions unsuitable as the country grappled with the flood.

The local government has maintained that the machinery has been busy with rehabilitation activities so the polls must be scheduled on later dates.

In the meeting, the interior Secretary will brief on the situation and the decision will be announced after consideration.

It is pertinent to mention here that intelligence agencies have also warned in regard to terror attempts during the polls and a letter in this regard has been sent to the ECP.

It was said that the reports were received of terror attacks during the elections and conducting the polls with only security personnel deployed must be dangerous.
