PTI leaders’ reaction on issuance of Imran Khan’s arrest warrant

ISLAMABAD: Leaders of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) have reacted angrily to the news of issuance of arrest warrant of their party head and former prime minister Imran Khan on Saturday.

A judicial magistrate has issued a warrant to arrest PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

A case was registered at the Margalla Police Station after which the magistrate issued the arrest warrant. The case under Section 407 (criminal breach of trust in respect of property) against Imran Khan was registered in August this year.

The court of magistrate Section-30 Rana Mujahid issued an arrest warrant against the PTI chief for his non-appearance in the case registered on August 20 for his remarks regarding Additional District and Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry and different police officers.

The FIR No. 407/22 includes four sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), including 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 189 (threat of injury to public servant), and 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant).

Earlier today, the PML-N leadership held a scathing press conference against PTI chief Imran Khan and accused him of breaching the Official Secrets Act by taking the cypher from the PM Office.

Senior PTI leader Asad Umar warned, “Don’t make the mistake of detaining Imran Khan. You will regret it.”

Another PTI leader Maleeka Bukhari said an attempt was being made to arrest Imran Khan on desire of Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah. “Whenever they wish, they file a case against Imran Khan,” she said adding that her party wanted to continue the process of democracy and condemned the fascism and barbarism.

She said people would take to streets, if an attempt was made to arrest Imran Khan. “The political case is being filed on someone’s desire. We will resist legally, if Imran Khan is arrested. We do not want to take the law into our hands,” she said.

Murad Saeed asked people of Islamabad and Rawalpindi to reach Bani Gala, residence of Imran Khan. He said they would stop the arrest again, as they did before.

PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Imran Khan had already clarified his statement and excused from the judge at her court room. Several experts guided the court as well in this regard, he said.

“I was surprised and astonished when the arrest warrant was issued, we will consult our lawyers,” he said.

Faisal Javed said the whole nation stood with Imran Khan. “We pray to Allah Almighty to make Pakistan successful. May Allah keep him safe and sound. Amen,” he said.
