KARACHI: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has thanked US President Joe Biden for highlighting the problems of flood victims in Pakistan and calling for an immediate response from the international community to stop the effects of climate change.

In his Twitter message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif  thanked US President Joe Biden for highlighting the plight of the flood victims in Pakistan and urging an immediate response from the world.

He said that Pakistan is facing unprecedented flood disasters and the UN needs to pay attention to the cries of women and children trapped in floods.

In his address to the United Nations General Assembly, US President Joe Biden made an impassioned appeal to the world to help Pakistan deal with the consequences of floods.

US President Joe Biden said that Pakistan is facing the effects of climate change and the country suffering from natural disasters needs help to mitigate the effects of the challenges of climate change. He said that Pakistan is facing difficulties due to floods as most of the country is submerged in water due to which Islamabad needs help.

Biden said that the international community must come forward to stop the effects of climate change, adding that climate change is a major challenge for the world and the international community must work together.

On the other hand, US President Joe Biden accused Russia of making “reckless” and “irresponsible” threats to use nuclear weapons and said Moscow had violated the core tenets of United Nations membership by invading Ukraine.
