SEOUL: Britain’s Emma Raducanu upset Japan’s Moyuka Uchijima in the opening round of the Korea Open, despite a late wobble.

In the second set, the 19-year-old Raducanu had a 5-0 lead but double-failed on match point before winning 6-2 6-4.

Raducanu, who was rated 10th in the world in August, dropped to number 77 after losing in the first round of the US Open earlier this month.

In the second set, Uchijima, the 126th-ranked player in the world who has never taken part in a Grand Slam match, won four straight games to pull Raducanu back to 5-4. Then, after an hour and eighteen minutes, the Briton served out the victory.
